Solving…

Here comes the solving of the quiz from my last post =)

Do you know the answer now,  looking at this picture below?

I live very very close to it =)

I think it was last year when I went with my bike to find this spot: I wanted to take some pictures. The tricky thing: it started raining like crazy. So I waited under a tree until the rain and the thunderstorm was over – and this is when I took this interesting photo.

When I look at the church and the football stadium, some questions come to mind:

What makes a difference in the world?

Is it:

a) football

or

b) the church (meaning all christians/ believers)?

What is your purpose in life? Why are you living here on earth?

So many different thoughts going around my head now, but I want to leave you and me for now with this question:

Who is your GOD?

How do you spend your time?

What is important? A story of a little boy

Just read this little story. I found it very touching and want to share it with you.

Colouryourdream Purpose Goal Dream copy

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: “Daddy, may I ask you a question?”

DAD: “Yeah sure, what is it?”
SON: “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?”
DAD: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?”
SON: “I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?”
DAD: “If you must know, I make $100 an hour.”
SON: “Oh! (With his head down).
SON: “Daddy, may I please borrow $50?”
The father was furious.
DAD: “If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior.”

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy’s questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $ 50 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door.

DAD: “Are you asleep, son?”

SON: “No daddy, I’m awake”.
DAD: “I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier. It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here’s the $50 you asked for.”

The little boy sat straight up, smiling.
SON: “Oh, thank you daddy!”
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

DAD: “Why do you want more money if you already have some?”

SON: “Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do.

“Daddy, I have $100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.”
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It’s just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $100 worth of your time with someone you love? If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family and friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family.

Some things are more important.

The gift

This story touched me and I thought of people who live their lives with unforgiveness and also they never unwrap the gift God has given them. It’s a tragic, but true story. Sometimes we think something of a person which is not true: like the son thought his dad “only” gives him the bible – he was so dissappointed in him that he didn’t even open the gift properly – the son just assumed something, what was not true. This story taught me not to assume things but to really look “into” the situation and in people’s heart. And also to be grateful for everything – especially the peopel I have in my life. This story makes me sad, thinking that the son never had the chance again to say thanks to his Dad.

Morning Story and Dilbert

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college.

For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible.

Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, “With all your money, you give me a Bible?” and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book.

Many years passed…

I read this story a long time ago but it touched my heart again today while reading it. I cried and thought: what a beautiful example this little girl!

Morning Story and Dilbert

Sarah’s parents were new to town, and she was just getting to know her classmates at church. As a second grader, she was full of energy and beaming with naughtiness. As Sarah’s Sunday school teacher, my wife provided me with a limitless supply of funny stories – Monday night dinner was usually served with Sarah’s latest antics. Everyone at church seemed to like her. She was simply an easy kid to fall in love with.

One Sunday my wife had prepared a lesson on being useful. She taught the children that everyone can be useful – that usefulness is serving God, and that doing so is worthy of honor. The kids quietly soaked up my wife’s words, and as the lesson ended, there was a short moment of silence. Then Sarah spoke up. “Teacher, what can I do?” I don’t know how to do too many useful things.”

Do what you can

This foto shows it: I like books – especially about personality. The ones you see in this foto are not the ones I usually read =) This foto was taken at the world exhibition EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. It was great to be there, cause it reminded me of my time 10 years ago at the EXPO in Germany where I worked in my summer break for around 4 weeks. It was a GREAT experience!

And I remember: I was introduced to the world of INTERNET and EMAIL. Wow – what a different world! And now 10 years later it’s so normal to have internet. Unbelievable!

Since about one year I only buy E-Books, cause I can take them everywhere and I don’t have to decide which book to take: cause all books are constantly in my travel luggage: around 17! I got so fed up of carrying all my heavy books around the world that I started to buy E-books. And I love it!
But the problem is, that I try to read around 5-6 books at once. So it takes a while to finish them =)

And when friends recommend books to me I am interested in, I can’t resist bying them.

So lately I bought the E-book: The “Do what you can” plan by Holly Gerth. I want to summarize a bit what I read so far (of course I haven’t finished it yet, cause I am reading many books at once =).

Already in the introduction its says, why this book is for me:
“If you’ve ever made a goal or resolution and not kep it, this is for you.
If you’ve ever said “When things get back to normal, then I’ll… this is for you.
If you’ve ever felt too tired to do what you know you really need to do, this is for you.

Our culture tells us that we have to “Go big or go home.” But research on change reveals a very different story: it’s the small things that make the greatest difference over time.”

I am a perfectionist – as I told you in another post already. And I have a bit the mentality: Go big or go home. So sometimes I think – if I can’t do it all at once, I don’t do it. And then I loose my motivation cause I have unrealistic goals.
As I am writing this post I am thinking of a special person who will smile when reading this =) and maybe thinks: I told her many times……….
Some people are very constant and they achieve a lot! They do small steps but these small steps constantly. I really admire persons like this. Cause I am not the type of person. My personality is either big or nothing. But that’s not good.
I started to be a bit different and to try to be a bit more consistent – sometimes it works, sometimes not. But I am working on that.

Same with my post. My goal was to write 2 posts a week, but that was a way to high goal for me: unrealistic. And a while I didn’t write any post on this blog and got frustrated cause I didn’t reach my goal – so instead of writing once a week I stopped for a while.

So a realistic goal for me is probably 2 posts a month.

As I was reading in this book I just mentioned, it describes my person further:

“I want to achieve great things. I want to do it all or none at all (…)
It’s time to shrink the change you have in mind down to a more manageable size (…).
Decide on the minimum you’d like to accomplish in a particular area of your life (…). Then divide that by about half (…)
A small goal that actually happens and can grow is better than the grandest one that remains a fantasy (…)
Don’t let unrealistic expectations or idealistic ambitions hold you back any longer.”

Oh boy: that is so ME!

I would love to hear your experiences……… Maybe you are very different, maybe you have a good advice, maybe you have the same struggles!? I would love to hear from you.

You can post a comment on this blog or write me an Email: coach.tabea@web.de
Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Blessed new year 2013!

Colouryourdream Purpose Dream Goal

Tomorrow is the last day of the year 2012 (or today – depending when you read this post or depending where you live =)

I can’t believe that this year is almost over again – it went by so fast.
It was a blessed year with lots of joy but also sadness.

When we went to the funeral of my auntie this week, I thought: I don’t know what people do who have no hope, who don’t know what comes after death?
In general funerals are very sad, because a person who we loved or know is not here on earth with us anymore.
But if you believe that there is life after death – a better life – it’s not that sad anymore. If a person loved God and commited his/her life to him on earth God promises a beautiful life with him when we die – our life finished on earth, but it will go on forever at a beautiful place :

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (Bible, John 11,25)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3,16+17)

“There will be “no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelations 21,4)

I really love these bible verses – because it gives me so much hope and peace.
I also know that my aunt believed this and that she commited her life to the one who is the way, the truth and the life! (written in John 14,6).

The day she died there was a bible verse written in a book which many christians around the world read on a daily basis (with verses from the bible) – it’s called: “Losungen” in German (it’s a devotional guide for every day).
On the day she died there was this following verse written: from Isaiah 60,19+20

“The sun will no more be your light by day,
nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
for the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.
Your sun will never set again,
and your moon will wane no more;
the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your days of sorrow will end.”

What a beautiful verse!

I wish you God’s blessing for the new year 2013!

I don’t know how you feel about the next coming year: maybe you are happy, maybe you have sorrows, maybe you are sad, maybe you are desperate, maybe you are fearful, maybe you are hopeful?

My prayer is that you find/ experience the most important: peace with God.

The most important birthday ever

colouryourdream - heart for a special person

Dear blog readers,

thanks a lot for reading my blog and for your encouraging comments!

Wishing you a blessed Christmas!

For me it is very special time of the year – cause the person who I love most has birthday: Jesus Christ!

He is the one who gives my life meaning and fulfillment.

Today many thoughts were crossing my mind:

God is the one who knows the beginning and the end of your life – no one else. And he has everything in his hand. He knows what’s best for us and for others – even if we don’t understand everything.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55,8+9).

Yesterday I had my last working day (or let’s say night – cause I worked during the night) in the year 2012.

And I planned to fly for the day to see someone close to me in the hospital.
But Gods thoughts are higher than our ways.

Today I got the sad news that she went already to the place where there will be “no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelations 21,4). For me sad news but for her its the best place to be – and in this way I am also happy!

But we are still living here on this earth and there is a lot of pain and tears involved.

It’s good to know that God “will wipe every tear from their eyes…..”- one day.

Today I listened to a podcast where it was mentioned that every person has 4 questions:

– origin: where do I come from?
– meaning: what gives my life meaning?
– morality: how do I differentiate between good and evil
destiny: what happens to a human being when he/she dies?

Many religions have different answers, but there is one unique answer which I believe in: it’s the uniqueness of Christ’s forgiveness.

In John Chapter 3 its says how the love of Christ is expressed: it’s unconditional love, it’s relational and eternal.

This one person who’s birthday we celebrate in a few days is the redeemer of the world. He came to pay the prize so that you and I can live! How amazing!

There exists many stories of people who lived a life of pleasure, but when they faced the last hours in their life they suddenly realized: their life was so empty, it had no meaning at all.

I was very sad today and I cried a lot because of the loss and also because I couln’t be there on time. But what made me confident was: I know that she just didn’t “know” abstractly that Jesus Christ exists, but that she “knew” Christ in a personal way.

She was convinced that: “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(Romans 8,38)

I know that not everybody who reads this post will agree on it. But it was on my heart to write it and because I believe that Jesus Christ is the true way to life and I wanted to share it with you. It’s a free choice what we believe in.

Would love to hear “your story” – your experiences, your hopes, your fears, your dreams, your questions, your belief…..

I wish you a blessed Christmas and hopefully I will see you next year: 2013!

God’s blessing…..

… in English: for my english speaking friends:

The Lord bless you, and keep you:
The Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you:
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

… in German (Deutsch= my mother tongue):

Der Herr segne dich und behüte dich.
Der Herr lasse sein Angesicht leuchten über dir und sei dir gnädig.
Der Herr erhebe sein Angesicht auf dich und schenke dir Frieden.
…in French:

Que le Seigneur te bénisse et te garde.
Que le Seigneur fasse rayonner sur toi son regard et t’accorde sa grâce.
Que le Seigneur porte sur toi son regard et te donne la paix.
