What is your purpose in life?

colouryourdream goal purpose dream flowers photography

I love tulips! When I look at this picture I see many beautiful white tulips – but every tulip is different. They may have the same colour on this picture – but no the exact same shape, height…

God created everyone of us different. And for a special purpose.

The question is: What is MY purpose in life?
How would you answer this question?
Since a very long time I am asking myself this question: What is my purpose in life? What does God want me to do in life?

I don’t just want to live my life somehow – I want to live it to the fullest and I want to fulfill the purpose God designed for me.

My favorite App at the moment is from Rick Warren: Purpose driven life. I could mark everything I read. Here are some quotes that I really like:

“It is impossible to do everything people want you to do. You have just enough time to do God’s will. If you can’t get it all done, it means you are trying to do more than God intended for you to do (or, possibly, that you are watching too much television).

Knowing your purpose focuses your life. It concentrates your effort and energy on what’s important. You become effective by being selective.

Without a clear purpose, you will keep changing directions, jobs, relationships or other externals – hoping each change will settle the confusion or fill the emptiness in your heart.

If you want your life to have impact, focus it!

Never confuse activity with productivity. You can be busy without a purpose, but what’s the point?

Knowing your purpose prepares you for eternity. What ultimately matters most will not be what others say about your life but what God says.

Question to consider: What would my family and friends say is the driving force of my life? What do I want it to be?”

God gave me many gifts and he wants me to use them. Since a very long time it was my dream to become a life coach. I never gave up on this dream. Finally last year this dream came true and I coached already a few people. This is what really gives me joy! To help people reaching their goals and live out their purpose in life

Right now I am actually looking for more people who want to be coached by me. People who want to reach their goals and just need somebody who helps them to move forward.

Are you looking for a change next year? Or you don’t know how to reach your goals? Or you are feeling overwhelmed and are unable to move forward? Or do you need a christmas present for someone?

It doesn’t matter where you live – I coach people from different parts of the world on skype!

What do you do when you are sick?

I have been sick for a while now – and I was thinking a lot about life, about myself and my personality. To be honest with you – I do this quite often. What I also constantly do is: thinking about the purpose of MY life. And asking God: what on earth am I here for? What does God want me to do?

I don’t want to just live my life “somehow”, I want to make a difference in people’s life. But how? By using the gifts and talents God gave me. But what if you have many gifts? Which one do you use? And where?

I downloaded an App: The purpose driven life from Rick Warren – which I highly recommend. I want to quote some passages from it here. Maybe you can take also some out of it for your own life. For me it’s a help.

Here are some quotes from the first chapter:

“The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.

The search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. That’s because we typically begin at the wrong starting point – ourselves. We ask self-centered questions like What do I want to be? What should I do with my life? What are my goals, my ambitions, my dreams for my future? But focusing on ourselves will never reveal our life’s purpose. The Bible says, “It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone’s life is in his power.”

It is only in God that we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our significance, and our destiny.

You were made for God, not vice versa, and life is about letting God use you for his purposes, not your using him for your own purpose.

You can usually succeed in reaching a goal if you put your mind to it. But being successful and fulfilling your life’s purpose are not at all the same issue.
You could reach all your personal goals, becoming a raving success by the world’s standard, and still miss the purpose for which God created you.

It’s about becoming what God created you to be.

The easiest way to discover the purpose of an invention is to ask the creator of it.
The same is true for discovering your life’s purpose: ask God.

You discover your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
God was thinking of you long before you ever thought of him. You may choose your career, your spouse, your hobbies, and many other parts of your life, but you don’t get to choose your purpose.”

I am still discovering what God wants me to do!

Looking forward to hearing from you what your purpose in life is or thoughts about what I wrote!

In between post: What is your purpose in life?

I just want to write something in between my goal “series” cause it really struck me today.
I got the sad news today in the morning that my former neighbour died. He was only 21 years old. As far as it looks his family didn’t care about him – they are not interested in him – they don’t want to pay for the funeral. When I read my emails in the morning I got so sad and I cried. I cried because I felt for this young guy and also for other young people who don’t have or never had a loving family. I thought: What have I done to help him, to show him love? Sometimes I was sitting in front of my house and he came home from work. We usually talked a lot about different things. He was very talkative and friendly.

I am so thankful that I have a loving and supporting family. I really want to encourage young people who don’t have such a loving environment. I want to spend time with them, show them love, help them to find their purpose in life. This is also one reason why I did my certificate in life coaching. I am still thinking about it, how I could best use it to help others finding their potential and purpose in life.

I have a book called “The purpose driven life” by Rick Warren. He sais, that so many people live without hope in life. I really believe this from my heart what he believes: that only a life with Jesus Christ can bring meaning, purpose and significance in your life.
He mentiones that many people live with fear, regrets, bitterness and guilt. But there is good news: you can enter into a relationship with God through an attitude of trust in Jesus Christ. If you trust him with your life, you get forgiveness for your past, a purpose for living in your present, and a home in heaven in the future.
What a good news!

I wish that everybody could believe this good news. In the morning when I got this sad news I really thought about this: I want to make more of an effort to tell others what the good news is. I know that some won’t accept it and won’t believe it. But this shouldn’t keep me from telling the good news.

??? What is your purpose in life???

??? What are you living for???

Why is goal setting important (Part III)

  • goals can help you to set priorities

How do you decide which way you go? Do you go with “the flow” or do you let your current interest or other people’s interest determine where you go?
Or do you consciously decide which way you go?

Goals, visions and dreams help you to identify your priorities so that you can make the “right” choices based on a long-term view of what is most important for you.

Do you set goals?

The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.” – Bill Copeland

Do you know people who have a passive approach towards life? They live their lifes just “as it comes”. They don’t set any goals for their life. Their life now looks almost the same than 1, 2, 3…. years ago. Maybe you see a few changes, but that’s more the result of other’s actions rather than their own.

Actually I met a lot of people like this – people who don’t have goals for their life. And to be honest: I like spending more time with people who like to set goals for their life. They inspire me, they motivate me to achieve even more. When I spend too much time with people who just live their lifes day by day, I get an “uneasy” and bored feeling.

Did you ever make this experience? That you want to escape from some people? People who talk all day long about the same stuff, the same problems, the same stories? For me that’s not inspiring at all.
I want to surround myself with people who love to set goals, who love to learn new things, who love to get further in life, who love to achieve something.

Sometimes I set too many or too high goals for myself and then I get frustrated that I don’t reach them. I still have to learn to be realistic that I don’t overcharge myself.

But why is goal setting so important?
There are a few reasons. I will write more about this in my next post.
For now, ask yourself these questions:

??? Do I set goals???

??? What are my goals for next week, next month, next year(s) ???

What do passionate, purpose filled people have in common?

Passionate, purpose-filled people have two things in common:

  • They have taken the time to seek their passion by learning more about themselves.
  • They take action on what they’ve learned by creating small, manageable steps.

? Question for you:

1. Do you know yourself, your talents, your personality?

2. Do you take manageable action steps to reach your dream?
