How can I find my passion?

What’s my passion? What do I love doing? What am I good at? How can I find my passion in life?

Think back for a minute when you were a child or teenager. What dreams did you have? What desires did you have, what wishes? Did you want to be a teacher, a doctor, an artist, a nurse, a craftsman, a fireman, a ………..?

Maybe you can’t remember? Then ask someone who grew up with you and knows you well. What did you like doing or what were you good at?

Can you imagine what my dream was when I was a child?

At a young age I was very impressed with the lady at the shop selling different kind of meats and sausages. When my mum went shopping she sometimes bought “Gelbwurst” (a special German cold meat “cut up” which you put on your bread).

I loved standing besides my mum looking at the lady how she cut the meat and how she weighed it and put it into the bag. And most of the time she gave me a little piece of “Gelbwurst” to eat. That was the highlight of the shopping experience and I wanted to become a “Wurstverkäufer” – a lady who sells meat.

When I went to primary school I wanted to become a teacher and when I was a teenager I wanted to become a flight attendant. I also had the dream of doing fulltime youth work.

I surely had many dreams. What do you think…. Which one came true?

I must tell you that the dream of the “Wurstverkäufer” – selling meats, didn’t come true =), but the dream of becoming a teacher, a fulltime youth worker and also a flight attendant. What do they all have in common? Working with people! I am a “people person”: I love to inspire and making a difference in people’s lives. This passion led me to become an international certified life coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF). I inspire women on their journey to move forward in life and career with purpose, helping them find out their true gifts so that they can live out these gifts with authenticity to the fullest capacity in their personal and professional life. This is my passion!

What was your dream as a child? Did some of the dreams come true? If yes, why did they come true? Or if no, why didn’t they come true?

Do you think it’s too late that your dreams can become reality?

I think it’s never too late!!!

You can start NOW pursuing your dream by taking little steps. The most important thing is to start doing something about your dreams. If you need help I can help you on your journey with the first steps! Have a look at

It is never too late to start something!

Your unique gift

Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.“

– Albert Einstein –

life coaching, life, coaching, gift, purpose, talent

How often do you compare yourself to someone else? How often do you say to yourself: “She/ he is so good in this. I wish I could do this too.“

Instead of thinking: „I can’t climb the tree“, you can shift your way of thinking and focus on your great ability to swim with no effort. Because someone who can climb the tree can’t swim like you without effort.

Do you compare yourself with others? What does this do with you?

Do you focus on your gifts, instead of looking envious to the person with other gifts? Do you wish you had other gifts?

What would happen, if you focused on on your gifts and used them?

You are a unique person and you have have gifts, nobody else has in this special combination like you have!

I am looking forward to hearing from you a responses to the following questions:

??? What are you good at? What energizes you? What do you love doing? When do you loose track of time (when doing what)???

I read this story a long time ago but it touched my heart again today while reading it. I cried and thought: what a beautiful example this little girl!

Morning Story and Dilbert

Sarah’s parents were new to town, and she was just getting to know her classmates at church. As a second grader, she was full of energy and beaming with naughtiness. As Sarah’s Sunday school teacher, my wife provided me with a limitless supply of funny stories – Monday night dinner was usually served with Sarah’s latest antics. Everyone at church seemed to like her. She was simply an easy kid to fall in love with.

One Sunday my wife had prepared a lesson on being useful. She taught the children that everyone can be useful – that usefulness is serving God, and that doing so is worthy of honor. The kids quietly soaked up my wife’s words, and as the lesson ended, there was a short moment of silence. Then Sarah spoke up. “Teacher, what can I do?” I don’t know how to do too many useful things.”

Not anticipating…

You can follow me on twitter, instagram and flickr

One of my goals this month was: to set up my twitter account. I did not know a lot about twitter and researched a bit first. On twitter I try to write a short sentence (quote) about the topics of my blog: purpose, goal, dream… (on the right side you can just click on the twitter icon to follow me)

If you like fotos you can also follow me on instagram or flickr (have a look at the right side of my blog). The last months I figured out how to use Instagram. It was a new world for me. I love taking pictures when I travel and walk around. There are so many things to discover and so many things that are worth remembering. The world is so beautiful when you start to really look at little details. There are so many things to discover when you look closely at something.

What do you love doing?

Maybe you want to share a picture? Or something else? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Why is goal setting important (Part IV)

  • Goals can provide motivation and persistance

Do you know how many times Thomas Edison failed before he finally found a way to make the light bulb work? Over a thousand times!

It’s normal that you will struggle and fail many times before you finally reach your goal.

But what gives you the energy of wanting to reach your goal – even when there are many obstacles? It’s the WHY!
The question is: where does your motivation come from? WHY do you want to reach this goal?

Why do some people reach their goal, even when they have to struggle and try many things to get there? Because their WHY is big enough to find a way to reach that goal.

Why do on the other hand some people don’t reach their goal? Because their WHY is not big enough or they lose sight of their WHY.

If you want to achieve something high, struggle and failure often comes along with it. But if your WHY is big enough, you are able to motivate yourself and work continually towards the goal you want to achieve.

??? Ask yourself ???

What is my desire? What is my purpose? WHY do I want to accomplish this?

Last week my goal was to climb a mountain. WHY was this my goal? Because I wanted to take pictures from the top and it was my only chance to take this picture here in Australia before going back to Germany. I really wanted to reach the top of this particular mountain.
Do you think I struggled? Oh yes, I did! But I knew: if I go further and further I will finally reach the top – this prospect kept me going. If I wouldn’t have known, where I am going, what would have expected me, if I wouldn’t have known that there was a top of the mountain, I would have never had the energy, the desire and the persistence to go to the top. My goal really kept me going. I did motivate myself with singing, listening to a song, taking pictures while walking… so I kept walking continuously towards my goal: the top of the mountain.

I struggled a lot, I was sweating, I was weak (cause I got up 5 o’clock in the morning to take pictures of the sunrise at the beach), I had to carry my camera, my thick jacket……. I could have had many excuses NOT to go to the top, but it was my goal, I REALLY wanted to go and I walked slowly but continuosly (with a few little stops in between).

And FINALLY: I reached the top. What a view! You see it in the picture above.
I was so happy that I made it. What a feeling. I reached my goal! Nobody can take this away from you. This is awesome, when you push yourself to the limit, when you persist, when you motivate yourself by thinking WHY you are doing this and: finally you reach what you wanted: the top!

Do you set goals?

The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.” – Bill Copeland

Do you know people who have a passive approach towards life? They live their lifes just “as it comes”. They don’t set any goals for their life. Their life now looks almost the same than 1, 2, 3…. years ago. Maybe you see a few changes, but that’s more the result of other’s actions rather than their own.

Actually I met a lot of people like this – people who don’t have goals for their life. And to be honest: I like spending more time with people who like to set goals for their life. They inspire me, they motivate me to achieve even more. When I spend too much time with people who just live their lifes day by day, I get an “uneasy” and bored feeling.

Did you ever make this experience? That you want to escape from some people? People who talk all day long about the same stuff, the same problems, the same stories? For me that’s not inspiring at all.
I want to surround myself with people who love to set goals, who love to learn new things, who love to get further in life, who love to achieve something.

Sometimes I set too many or too high goals for myself and then I get frustrated that I don’t reach them. I still have to learn to be realistic that I don’t overcharge myself.

But why is goal setting so important?
There are a few reasons. I will write more about this in my next post.
For now, ask yourself these questions:

??? Do I set goals???

??? What are my goals for next week, next month, next year(s) ???
